The N.J NETS will still make their move to Brooklyn, New York despite the current financial economic crisis. The Nets CEO Bretty Yormark recently confirmed and announced the dates fans can expect them to make the move. “We’ll be there for the 2011-2012 season,” Yormark said in a statement. “We’ve pre-sold 20 percent of our suites…We’ve got eight of our 14 founding partnerships already completely signed. Next week, we’ll announce our ninth.”Although everyone and their grandma is having money problems right now, the Nets say it wont stop them. “We feel very confident about the financing,” Yormark added. “We feel very confident about just the project in general, and once we get through this final piece of litigation, we’ll be in the accelerated mode to break ground and get ready to open.”

Nick Cannon, former Nickelodeon and MTV Networks star, returns to the Nickelodeon family as Honorary Chairman and development consultant for TEENick, it was announced today by Cyma Zarghami, President, Nickelodeon /MTVN Kids and Family Group.

The network’s groundbreaking two-year deal with Cannon, which begins immediately, positions him in front of the camera and behind the desk as Honorary Chairman of The N as it transforms into TEENick. In fourth quarter ’09, The N will rebrand itself as TEENick, further developing and delivering on its mission of serving teens and tweens through programming reflecting the breadth and depth of "teendom." As TEENick’s Chairman, Cannon will serve as creative consultant and provide his vision on several projects for the teen network and its development slate. He will have a presence on-air, online and behind-the-scenes as he works closely with the network’s development and on-air teams to harness and execute new ideas across multiple platforms.

"I started my career here at Nickelodeon and am so excited to be back, serving as an integral part of TEENick as the in-house voice and representative for teens everywhere," said Cannon. "TEENick is their network and I am here to make sure this is an ultimate destination for and about them."

HIP-HOP SUPERSTAR Wyclef Jean arrived in Port au Prince last week with former Unite States President Bill Clinton during a high profile trip to Haiti. The trip was made in an effort to bring a much needed attention to the Haiti which is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. During the trip back to his homeland Wyclef took part in a U.N. Security Council delegation on a four-day mission to Haiti, to economic progress before upcoming key elections.

“I was honored to show my support when they asked me to join them on this important humanitarian trip which also gave them the opportunity to experience the beauty underneath the devastation my country and its people have had to face,” explained Jean. “It’s crucial for me to do all I can to raise awareness and help Haiti get through this tough time.”

Updated: We have learned that one of the men shot was popular Detroit rapper Trick Trick. Regardless of he's denials, police officers have told the Detroit Free Press that Trick Trick was indeed at the club and was in fact shot.

T.I. Initiative Aims to Remove Guns from Communities

PLATINUM SELLING rapper T.I. and his K.I.N.G. Foundation have formed a coalition with the Political Swagger Foundation and C.H.A.N.G.E. Initiative to remove guns from urban communities. The first stop for T.I. is Houston, where on March 14 the Atlanta native will host Responsibility Is a Lifestyle: Give Back Your Gun Day. The event commences at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Throughout the day, any person with an unregistered weapon will be able to turn in the firearm without fear of questioning, fines, or arrest.

The outreach program was enacted partly due to a recent sociological study by Northeastern University. The results displayed that from 2002-2007, there was 31 percent increase in the murder rate for juvenile African-American males.

Of those murders, there was an increase of 41 percent in black male perpetrators. Additionally, Northern University found that the numbers increased further when firearms were utilized.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the city of Houston has seen a reported 139 percent increase in the amount of young African-Americans suspected in gun murders. T.I., who was convicted last year on several counts of possessing illegal firearms, referenced that his actions going forward will reflect a new spiritual consciousness.

DENYING THE TEXT that resulted in fight between Chris Brown and Rihanna. Tina Davis, manager of Chris Brown, has denied that she sent a 3-page “sex text” to client Chris Brown. “The relationship between Ms. Davis and Mr. Brown is that of manager and client. There has never been any other relationship. The rumors in circulation are false,” said Davis’ lawyer Marshall Grossman. “There are no emails between Ms. Davis and Mr. Brown of the type which have been described in media reports.”

Brown allegedly received a sexually explicit text from another woman the February night that Brown and Rihanna were involved in an alleged violent altercation. The assault left Rihanna beaten and bruised at the hands of her boyfriend, police detectives charge. Davis will pursue the matter legally if given the name of the anonymous source with TMZ.com, the original outlet to report the story. “If the source of the false rumors is identified, legal action will be taken. Given the nature of the legal issues affecting Mr. Brown, Ms. Davis will not be making any further statements.” For the past two year, rumors have circulated about an intimate relationship with Davis and Brown, but the pair have steadfastly denied the gossip.

Also, a spokeman representing Chris Brown also announced the R&B singer, had withdrawn his name from consideration at the Nickeloddeon Kids' Choice Adwards airing March 28.

BRYD GANG LEADER Jim Jones will launch a five-day run of his critically acclaimed play Hip Hop Monologues. Jones will perform in five different showings, which will take place March 24-28th at the 37 Arts Theater in New York. Hip Hop Monologues, which is produced by Damon Dash, Sony Entertainment and J Kyle's Korner Ent., originally debuted in November 2008.

The play featured Jones performing songs from his latest album Pray IV Reign in the form or a scripted story. Hip Hop Monologues is an autobiographical telling of Jones' life, which centers around his family, fame, fortune and jealous rivals. After advice from an elder, Jones is faced with the decision of pursuing his career or returning to life on the streets. During the play, Jones will be backed by a live band conducted by Om’Mas Keith of SA-RA, as well as a number of professional actors.
Tickets go on sale tomorrow (March 10). Prices start at $40.

FORMER ROC-A-FELLA artist Uncle Murda has artisted on ID theft. He caught attempting to use a fraudulent California identification card at Los Angeles International Airport. Leonard Grant aka Uncle M, pleaded "no contest" to one count of possession of a counterfeit ID, according to the Los Angeles Times."It was a legitimate ID. But it was the ID of another individual. He was trying to pass it off as his own. His motivation for doing so is unknown," said Frank Mateljan, a spokesman for the city attorney's office. The 27-year-old rapper will have to perform 50 hours of community service and undergo 18 months of probation. In May 2008, Grant tried to pass off an ID with his face, but a screener at LAX was suspicious about the card. Upon further examination, the ID number was appointed to another person. The identification was taken and destroyed by police. In related news, Uncle Murda recently adjusted his controversial name to Uncle M.

The Relapse is set for release on May 19 and the Detroit-bred artist is already moving to drop a sequel at the end of the year. The follow-up, Relapse 2, is expected to hit stores as 2009 closes. Flo Rida Partners With iTunes; Breaks Eminem Sales Record

IT WAS A GOOD DAY for Atlantic Records artist Flo-Rida who has planted a deal with Apple’s iTunes to help promote his upcoming album R.O.O.T.S (Route of Overcoming The Struggle). Also, his latest #1 single “Right Round,” more tracks and new videos from his sophmore album are being made available for sale exclusively through iTunes. Flo-Rida fans who purchased the single will be able to buy the rest of the release at a reduced price based on the music and videos they have already downloaded as part of iTunes' Complete My Album program.

So far, the strategy is paying off for the Carol City, Florida, bred rapper, who has usurped Eminem, Dr. Dre and 50 Cent, breaking the trio’s record of most digital download in one week.
Flo Rida’s latest single “Right Round” took the title of most downloads sold in the first week since being released on February 10.

The previous record was set last week by Eminem’s “Crack A Bottle” featuring Dr. Dre and 50 Cent, which moved over 418,000 and debuted at #1. Flo Rida’s single has sold over 636,000 download since its February 10 release date, shattering the record set by Eminem, Dre and 50 by almost 200,000 copies. Flo Rida’s “Right Round” will also snag the #1 spot on this week’s Billboard Hot 100. A video for the track is set to debut on February 24 across all of MTV Networks’ music channels. Flo Rida also currently holds the record for the most downloaded song in history as his hit single “Low” has sold over 4.5 million copies.

His new album R.O.O.T.S (Route of Overcoming The Struggle) is set to arrive in stores and online March 31st.

Shawty Lo Announces New Album "CARLOS"

ATLANTA OWN'S Shawty Lo has announced a May release date for his sophomore autobiographical effort "Carlos," the follow up to his 2008 debut, Units in the City. The album
"Carlos" features appearances from a number of top rappers, including Lil’ Wayne, Gucci Mane, Rick Ross, Bun B, T-Pain, Lil Kim, fellow group members D4L and singer Trey Songz.

The first single off of Carlos - which the Bankhead rapper has deemed has most personal recording - will be the track “Supplier” featuring Trey Songz. "I know I've said it before but I came from nothing and have made it to the other side, but I can't turn my back on my hood because that place [Bowen Homes] and my community [Bankhead] have made me who I am,” explained Shawty Lo. “I've never proclaimed to be no more than what I am, so if people love or hate me, at least they love or hate me for being exactly who I am and not some manufactured image."

Shawty Lo’s Carlos is due in stores May 5 on DFL/Asylum.

FABOLOUS is at the centre of a drug scandal after Arkansas police discovered a large stash of marijuana on a tour bus reportedly belonging to the rapper. Authorities pulled over the coach for a traffic violation last Tuesday (17Feb09) and a search of the vehicle uncovered 496 pounds (225 kilograms) of the illegal substance on board, as well as $6,452 in cash. The driver of the tour bus and his only passenger, both from Georgia, claimed the drugs belong to Fabolous and another unnamed rapper. They allege the Trade It All hitmaker, real name John Jackson, and his associate loaded up the bus in Phoenix, Arizona, where they had attended the NBA All-Star Weekend (14-15Feb09), and instructed the driver to phone on arrival in Boston, Massachusetts. The two men, identified as Edward Thimas, 52, and Robert Morris, 44, are currently being held in custody after giving police conflicting reports of the timeline of events. A spokesperson for Fabolous had yet to return a comment as WENN went to press.

WHERE'S THE LOVE ? It has just been reported by that T-Pain has cancelled his concert in Guyana tonight after he received death and kidnapping threats. The show’s promoter, Kerwin Boolers, says that the show was called off after email and phone from an unidentified source were “credible death and kidnapping threats.” Police Commander Leroy Bollers reported Sunday that authorities will investigate. If not for threats, T-Pain would have headlined one of Guyana’s biggest concerts.

GRIMEY New York rapper N.O.R.E. was arrested on Miami Beach on Sunday afternoon after punching a man in the face and throwing a cup of yellow liquid on him, according to police. Victor Santiago, who also goes by stage names N.O.R.E. or Noreaga, was arrested by Miami Beach police after he got into a fight with a man at Fatburger, a South Beach restaurant located at 947 Washington Ave., police said. According to the police report, Santiago and three other men walked into Fatburger yelling loudly. On their way in, the rapper ripped one of the restaurant’s flower bouquets out of its place. Santiago then offered a man a cup of yellow liquid — when the man refused, Santiago threw it at him. ”Do you know who I am?” Santiago yelled, according to the report. The rapper then punched the man in the face three times, police said.

THE GRAMMY AWARD WINNING Lil Wayne has just announced he will push back the release date of his rock-and-roll LP Rebirth from April 7 to May 19. The video for the album's first single, "Prom Queen," however, has been shot and should be released next month. Currently, he has some unfinished business onstage, so he's taking his I Am Music tour back on the road. Most of the supporting cast from the first trek — T-Pain, Keri Hilson, Gym Class Heroes and Gorrilla Zoe — are coming back too. Keyshia Cole won't be returning. CONCERNED FAMILY members are opening up about Rihanna's relationship with Chris Brown. after an alleged altercation before the Grammy Awards that left Rihanna injured and Brown arrested.
According to a Rihanna family member. They told People magazine that Brown "flew so far under everyone's radar that we just didn't think he was that [abusive] type." The relative added that the news comes as a surprise because "he was always looking after her needs making sure she was happy." The relative agreed with Rihanna's dad, Ronald Fenty, who thinks his superstar daughter should "move on" from the relationship. "I don't want her to go back to him," the family member said. "I don't think anyone does."

THE BAD BOY OF HIP-HOP Sean “Diddy” Combs has announced the released date and name of his sixth LP, which is titled "Last Train To Paris." Combs described Last Train To Paris as “Electro-Hip-Hop Soul Funk.” Also, he explains "Last Train To Paris is deeper than any of the other stuff I have ever made, it's a profound love story. It's me with my shades off. It's the truth."

The album is the follow-up to Combs’ last solo album Press Play, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 upon its release in October of 2006. Since last solo release, Combs has been involved in a number of projects, from launching new TV shows with MTV (Making the Band, Run’s House), movies (Notorious) to introducing new fragrances (I Am King) and clothing lines from his Sean John fashion empire.

THE HULKING SUGE was reportedly punched by a man who claims to be Akon’s business manager. The website TMZ says that Suge was attending a private party for the NBA All-Star weekend in Scottsdale, Arizona when cops were called to the scene by security saying their was a fight between two groups in the VIP area. The Police Department website says when cops arrived they saw a man punch the victim (Suge) twice in the head. The suspect, Robert Carnes Jr., was charged with felony aggravated assault “due to the severity of the victim’s injuries.” Another man was also arrested and charged with one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct. Carnes told the officers that he was the business manager for singer “Akon” while Suge was taken to a local hopsital for the injuries. Akon’s people say “Akon had already left the party and was in his hotel room at The W when the incident occurred.” Akon’s publicist released a statement saying “He is not Akon’s business manager, David Bolno is. He is with Akon’s camp.

WHEN 50 CENT rapped about getting money, he really meant it. According, to Forbes they ranked Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson amongst the top elite black stars recently. Oprah Winfrey was rated number, earning an estimated $275 million between June of 2007 to June 2008. Her resume boasts an XM radio satellite show, a self-titled magazine, and an active production company.

However, New York's own 50 Cent was right on her heels. He was ranked second because of his his $100 million cut from the sale of Vitamin Water to Coca Cola. Forbes says he earned an impressive $151 million during the same period. His empire includes his G-Unit clothing line, record label, films, and video games.

NAS CONFIRMS that he's working on the Dr. Dre’s Detox. Also, he expressed his desire to do more projects with Dre. "I did a joint. I think it's crazy," Nas told Billboard regarding his Detox collaboration with the chart-topping beatsmith. "He's someone I'd love to do a whole album with one day. He's incredible. I think he's the best producer of all time." With his work on Detox, Nas becomes the latest entertainer to lend his talent to the highly-anticipated project, which is slated to hit stores this year. To date, 50 Cent, Eminem, Devin the Dude Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, the Game, Lloyd Banks, Lil Wayne and Jay-Z are reportedly attached to Detox along with producers Denaun Porter, Hi-Tek, Focus and DJ Khalil.
